the Kenya team has arrived!!!

The NextGen Academy safely arrived in Nairobi, Kenya on the night of Feb. 27. Each team has now split up into their respective countries.

The Kenya team (Addison Smyth, Lisa DeGoede, Alissa Miller, Teddy Sylte, Lisa Anderson), is currently stationed at the Sasamoto Training Center in Nairobi Kenya. We are all very healthy and are being taken care of so wonderfully. The weather here is so beautiful; sunny and fairly hot during the day and cool during the night. We have been very busy right off the bat attending meetings, planning our schedule/projects, working on our team relations, and so much more.

Right now we are getting ready to meet with our character education team who is going to be traveling around with us to teach in Nairobi as well as in surrounding cities. We also will be very involved in the upcoming ILC and GPF. WE WILL BE ON TV THIS FRIDAY TO TALK ABOUT CHARACTER EDUCATION. Basically we will be doing a lot of PR stuff for the ILC (international leadership conference; leaders coming together to discuss peace and action steps). Everyone here is very excited about working with us and are definitely using us to the fullest potential possible.

We will also be traveling to an orphange on the 13th to work with the children there, and we are so excited to see Kenya outside of Nairobi. We're getting the experience, but realize that the conditions we are in are very good for Kenya. We are ready to see and experience more as to understand more and more about Kenya.

We are not able to access internet so often, but plan on updating this blog as much as possible. Please also check out our cause on facebook (donations are still needed!!). Our cause is Change the world, starting with Kenya!! (or see website below)

Again, Kenya is amazing and crazy and much much more. We want to leave a huge impact here and definitely have set ourselves up to do so. Thank you all for your support and love...we miss you!!! ...pictures to come as well :)
